Berliner Morgenpost is Regional Newspaper of the Year 2011
The Berliner Morgenpost is the European Newspaper of the Year in the regional newspaper category. This daily from Axel Springer won the 13th European Newspaper Award in Vienna. The jury stated the newspaper’s modern and clear layout as the main reason for the award: “Both in full and in tabloid format the newspaper makes a very reliable impression thanks to its typography and handling of pictures.
All pages are laid out in a very clear and balanced manner. The tabloid experiment, which was associated with the elections for the Berlin House of Representatives, involved some very modern elements such as the picture-laden front page. Pictures, side boxes and infographics made long stories on the inside pages of the tabloid edition very easy to read.” The Morgenpost also received awards in the newspaper contest in 2010 – in the online, picture feature and infographic categories.
“This is a wonderful reward for the entire editorial team and confirms our approach to evolving the Berliner Morgenpost. We want to keep surprising our readers and provide high-quality regional journalism,” says editor-in-chief Carsten Erdmann. The European Newspaper Awards ceremony takes place during the European Newspaper Congress in Vienna on May 7 and 8, 2012.
